When a brawl breaks out in the factory and Carmen is arrested, she uses her seduction to trick Don José into letting her escape. This single decision marks the beginning of an obsession that will alter his life forever.

Meanwhile, Don José returns to find her. Despite his military obligations, Carmen’s magnetic pull overpowers his reason; he ultimately deserts his post to follow her. While their passion seems to burn brightly, the seeds of conflict and jealousy are already beginning to take root.

Consumed by despair and blinding jealousy, Don José loses all restraint and takes Carmen's life. As the shouts of triumph echo from the arena, he is left alone to face a ruinous loss that can never be undone.
