Pearl, a mermaid from Songkla, dreams of exploring the human world. She escapes her underwater home and finds herself on the beach of Songkla, where she meets David, a tuk tuk driver. Pearl falls deeply in love with David, but he never reciprocates her feelings. Instead, he betrays her, selling her to a circus in Chiang Mai, claiming she’s off on a journey. In the circus, Pearl is forced to perform, swimming and jumping through fiery hoops and playing with balls for the crowd’s amusement. When Pearl learns she was sold, her heart breaks, and she is consumed with hatred for the man she once loved. With the aid of Marn Fah Yard Ghost, a powerful Lanna spirit, Pearl escapes and journeys to the Mae Ping River, where she encounters a mysterious water ghost who changes everything for her.
